What's on a marriage registration?

Typically a marriage registration contains:
  • date and place of ceremony
  • person performing ceremony
  • names of parties
  • their addresses at the time
  • ages of parties (may say "full age")
  • their marital status
  • names of their fathers 9if known)
  • their fathers' occupations
  • witnesses
NOTES
If there are blanks in these transcripts, it's because they were blank in the original. e.g. a party may have been illegitimate, so no father's details are given, even if they were known.

I don't have full copies of most of these, only the extracts.

Compulsory registration started in England in 1837.
